This round table aims to highlight which global phenomena are impacting or will impact vulnerable communities. The contributions will help to understand the risks and the opportunities that must be considered for design in vulnerable communities. The presentations can be focused on the global phenomena or on the community scale.

Esta mesa redonda busca resaltar cuáles fenómenos globales están impactando o impactarán las comunidades vulnerables. Las contribuciones ayudarán a entender los riesgos y oportunidades que deben de considerarse para diseñar dentro de comunidades vulnerables. Las presentaciones pueden estar enfocadas en los fenómenos globales o a escala de la comunidad.

Full-time research professor at the School of Architecture, Art and Design of Tec de Monterrey, where she is leading the national research group "Sustainable Territorial Development¨. She has a master's degree in architectural engineering from the Kyoto Institute of Technology and a doctorate from the Osaka University´s Graduate School of Engineering. Her research focuses on sustainable land use, spatial equity, and urban conservation of historic centers. Dr. Krstikj is a member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico and the Architectural Institute of Japan.

Profesora investigadora de tiempo completo en la Escuela de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño del Tec de Monterrey, donde lidera el grupo de investigación nacional "Desarrollo Territorial Sustentable". Tiene una maestría en ingeniería arquitectónica del Instituto Tecnológico de Kioto y un doctorado de la Escuela de Graduados en Ingeniería de la Universidad de Osaka, su investigación se centra en el uso sostenible de la tierra, la equidad espacial y la conservación urbana de los centros históricos La Dra. Ersela holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and a Bachelor of Architecture with Honors from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Her work has been widely published in Scapegoat, MONU, Volume, The Architect's Newspaper, Domus, Texas Architect, and others. Her work is located on the U.S. Mexico border where she maps trans-border shared ecologies, urbanism, infrastructures and exposes binational systems of control that affect human rights.

Ersela tiene una Maestría en Ciencias en Diseño Arquitectónico Avanzado de la Escuela de Posgrado de Arquitectura, Planificación y Preservación de la Universidad de Columbia, y una Licenciatura en Arquitectura con Honores del Instituto de Tecnología de Nueva Jersey. Su trabajo ha sido ampliamente publicado en Scapegoat, MONU, Volume, The Architect's Newspaper, Domus, Texas Architect y otros. Su trabajo se ubica en la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México, donde mapea ecologías compartidas transfronterizas, urbanismo, infraestructuras y expone sistemas binacionales de control que afectan los derechos humanos.

Stephen’s extensive experience in advanced architectural construction, fabrication, digital design techniques, and urban research informs his design philosophy and approach. Stephen has received numerous awards for his design work and scholarship, including the 2018 Emerging Voices award from The Architectural League of New York, the Rome Prize in Architecture from the American Academy in Rome in 2010, and residency fellowships at the MacDowell Colony in 2009 and 2013.
